Joining Ketchikan Killer Whale Swim Club

KKW is a nonprofit organization open to swimmers of all ages and abilities.  

Swimmers interested in joining Killer Whales must be able to safely swim the length of the pool. Completion of level 3 swimming lessons or Super Seals is a strong recommendation for swimmers interested in joining the team. All swimmers may participate in a one week free trial in the pool prior to joining in order to "try" the team out. 

Swim Evaluations are available by appointment or during scheduled "open tryout" sessions open to the public. Open team tryouts for the 2024-2025 regular swim season will be held on the last Monday of each month, unless that date falls on a holiday or pool closing. The exceptions to this are the months of September (tryout to be held on Sept. 23), October (tryout to be held on October 29), December (no tryout), March, April, and May (by appointment only). During the team's summer session (June, July, and August), tryouts only are held by appointment only. If interested, please contact Head Coach, David Smithers, or our Membership Coordinator to schedule. Information regarding open tryouts will be posted on the team bulletin board at the Rec Center, on our team hompage, and Facebook.  

We use a paperless registration system, all information is secure and to be filled out online via our website.

The "Common Questions" page and our "Club Handbook" are great sources of information and may be able to answer many basic questions about our team.
